Being an AA student has made each of the assignments more difficult and more challenging, but having the opportunity to see my classmates work does help a lot. We were assigned to do a moving image, promoting a garment or an accessory, which I decided to work with a black Zara jacket. Even though I didn’t have any classmates to work with, I was thankful to have my friends who worked as my models, and I used my creativity to improve my house as a studio. I really had to take so many simple places in my house to make it look cool and creative for the moving image. I used previous knowledge I had about photographs that had been taken in houses and took it to another level.
At first, I didn’t have a clear view of what I wanted the final product to look like, but I thought that it would work better if I had more content to choose from than to lack it. So we recorded in every room of the house and even outside to record like a typical day using the garment.
Personally, I feel more attracted to ads that are emotional than ones that are strictly fashionable. Taking this into consideration I created a black & white moving image with some color, but strictly focused on what the model transmitted with her eyes to the public. Wanting the moving image to be simple, but well-edited, making it cool but not overwhelming. I mixed up stop motion images, with short videos, and some music to add it up.
Personally, I would have thought that this assignment would have taken me an hour maybe more, but I kept doing arrangments and changes so it took me the entire day, but I loved the result. I really discovered that I love taking images and creating content. It is so easy for me to spend a whole day editing videos or images and discovering new filters and functions without being a heavy job, but something I want to learn more about.
For future projects, I would like to keep expanding on my previous knowledge and keep trying new things. Also maybe focused a little more on the sale of the garment and not so much on the story behind it, because I know that there are ads and ads, just need to find the right balance. But overall I had a great time doing this project, and I learned a lot from it, looking forward to do more projects like this.
