Toolbox session 9

Taking into consideration that now we have a product, and an illustration of what our product would look like, in today’s session we are going to photoshoot it.

We were asked in the last session to bring prompts or something that has the same size or color that can be a representation of our product to be a photoshoot. With this explanation I spend the entire weekend, looking for a bag that would represent my product. I managed to buy the page at Primark and found a little mirror to put it inside it. For the shoot, I brought all of my make-up bags to uni and I asked one of my classmates to model for me.

At first, I wrote her to wear all black, so that it would be easy for the bag to stand out, and to have her hair in a pretty way so that I’ll just have to do the make-up.

My friend helped me and came in, in all black with a nice ponytail, so we sit down and I began doing her make-up look. I wasn’t sure which kind of make-up I was going for, so I decided to stick to the basics and go for a more natural one. When I finished we went all over campus taking pictures of her, with the back, and also close, ups, but to be honest, these pictures weren’t saying anything to me, and I wanted them to scream “buy me!”

It is for this reason that after looking at the results, the shoot look so traditional and boring, and I decided to do the shoot again, and with the teacher’s feedback I had more or so, and I idea of what I wanted.

I set my room as a professional set, I put little light around it, and placed my iPad with different range colors to add up to the image. I asked my roommate Lydia to be the model for me, and for this make-up, I went all out. I used lines, and neon colors, I wanted to make a bold statement, something that my customer would really enjoy it.

I took the pictures and they turned out great! I loved that I gave myself a chance to actually prove myself, and fail and repeat without any fear. I began editing the pictures and it was actually the final product I loved it, it represented everything that I wanted for my customer, and my brand, so I am so happy with the final creation, that I did even a magazine with the shoots. It turned out to be exactly what I wanted.
