Once again for this toolbox, I am continuing to be an AA student, but I have to say that from all the previous toolbox, this has been the hardest one. It was the first time that for a toolbox there wasn’t a recording, so I really had to understand the PowerPoint with a few keywords. While doing this toolbox I think I felt the most frustrated, as I am not really into fashion, and don’t know much about materials and designs or anything like this, and we had to do research over a collection and answer questions, so I felt really frustrated with my work. It definitely took me more than 3 hours to complete everything, because in my opinion it was the longest toolbox with many activities, but once again I took it as a challenge and did the best I could. I learned from new collections that are coming next year, and I could enjoy watching the shows. Also I took my mind to a place I have never been before having to connect what I did for research from the Science Museum and the collection that I chose that was from Marquez’ Almeida, but it was quite fun and creative to look for those little connections.
Also having to create a shoe out of the designs and research we had previously made, was an interesting activity. I felt like here I used one of my strengths with actually having to paint and draw which I enjoy very much, and I am good at painting. It did took me a while to connect the research from the museum with Shoreditch and the collection, but I think I have made a good work connecting all three of them.
Having to do my first promotional statement I was a bit nervous to do this task but following the instructions I felt like I did a good job selling my shoe as if I did a collaboration. Eventhough I felt the most frustrated in this tasks, I feel like I had the opportunity to learn so much from this toolbox. I take the collections I just view, and ready a little more about the artist and their ideas behind a collection. Also connecting one thing to another to create a final product, and finally have the chance to be creative actually create it and sell it. I am happy that I am opening to new ideas, and new experiences, everything that I learn I take as a positive thing, even though I am not really great at it at the time, I am learning and I am here to make mistakes, make many trials before I get near perfection. So I feel fulfilled with this toolbox, I learned so much and spend lot of time in it and I hope that it reflects me as an artist.
